Teleconference
on "Preparing Your Behavioral Healthcare
Organization for
Medicare Conditions of Participation Surveys"
Set for March 19
(Washington,
D.C., February 25, 2003)
The National
Association of Psychiatric Health Systems (NAPHS)
will offer an intensive two-hour teleconference on "Preparing
Your Behavioral Healthcare Organization for Medicare
Conditions of Participation Surveys (Including the
Patients Rights Restraint and Seclusion
Standards)" on Wednesday, March
19, 2003, from 2pm-4pm Eastern. The
interactive workshop is specifically designed to help
staff within psychiatric hospitals and psychiatric
units comply with federal "Conditions of
Participation" and prepare for survey on these
conditions. The conditions cover a wide range of
issues, focusing on staffing, medical record
documentation, and patient rights (including
restraint/seclusion). The call will provide insight
into how the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services (CMS) interprets the regulations, what they
are looking for when surveying, and how behavioral
healthcare organizations can remain in compliance.
Content will be presented by CMS Central Office staff
(including Shirley Eldridge and Janice
Graham) and others directly involved in
implementing the federal standards.
The
teleconference format is designed to enable maximum
participation at minimal cost. Because registration
fees are per incoming line (not per participant),
registered sites can have as many people listen in on
speakerphone as they wish. Pre-registration and
pre-payment are required. The cost of the
teleconference is $175 (or $125 for NAPHS
members). Mastercard, Visa, and American Express
are accepted.
For
a registration form or more information, call
202/393-6700, Ext. 104, or see www.naphs.org. An audiotape will also be
available after the teleconferences for $175
(or $125 for NAPHS members).
