Safety and the built environment for behavioral health facilities.
NAPHS works to provide members with resources and trainings that can assist facilities in their ongoing safety efforts.
Among a variety of resources available are a special White Paper (which is continuously updated) that provides a "Design Guide for the Built Environment of Behavioral Health Facilities" by David M. Sine, ARM, CSP, CPHRM, and James M. Hunt, AIA, NCARB. This free publication provides links to hard-to-find resources and strategies designed to enhance patient safety. Also, read more about an anti-suicide door featured in a recent Joint Commission publication.
NAPHS also offers a variety of trainings (see “trainings” in the NAPHS store).
